How I get a perfect twistout every time šš¾
1. Always start on clean hair. Having a lot of product build up on your hair and scalp weighs your hair down and makes styling more difficult. I always get more definition and shine when I start on clean hair.
2. Fully detangle hair before twisting. Make sure you remove all knots and tangles before twisting. This makes it easier to separate hair into sections to twist. This is also key š to getting great definition because you want the hair to be smooth while twisting. This also helps to prevent breakage when taking down your twists.
3. Use the right products for your texture.
Figure out which products or product combinations work best for your hair. A leave-in paired with a cream or butter gives me a soft defined twistout but if I want the style to last up to 2 weeks, I use a curl defining cream and a gel.
4. Let your hair dry completely before untwisting. This is the most important step !!ļø If the hair is not fully dry, you're going to have a frizzy mess and little to no definition. Depending on how much products I used to install the twists, I like to allow my hair to dry overnight or for a full day before taking them down.
5. Use oil to take down your twists. This helps to reduce frizz during the takedown process, reduces breakage, and adds shine to your hair.
6. Pick out your roots. Use a pick or a wide tooth comb to hide any parts and to get more volume.
