At 11, she met Margo Robbins, who is now the president of the Cultural Fire Management Council on the Hoopa reservation. Together, they worked on developing her Hoopa Valley High School’s Water Protectors Club. In high school, she met Melodie George-Moore, a medicine woman and Hoopa language teacher who served as her cultural mentor and educator, alongside her auntie Deborah Mcconnell."
