One of the most asked questions I get is how do you stay in shape and live a balanced lifestyle ❤️ 1. Food: everything I consume I do with intention. That doesn’t mean I’m restrictive, if I’m at an Italian restaurant I’m ordering pasta, but that dish I’m typically sharing with someone else and I’m filling up on the good stuff, green sides, protein etc. A day mostly consists of protein and veggies. If my body is craving fruit then I’ll have fruit. I love a big homemade salad for lunch and dinner is usually a protein like beans and some warm veggies. I believe in nourishing your body with what it asks for but I typically stay away from overly processed foods, too much dairy and white carbs. 2. Drinks: same goes for this in all categories. I try to stay away from overly processed milks (the crappy stuff you get from coffee shops are no good). If I’m having a cocktail it will have minimal mixers (the cocktails that have like 6 diff ingredients from bars and restaurants are loaded with simple sugars that spike your insulin and make you feel terrible the next day). Instead go for a quality liquor on rocks with fresh grapefruit, lime, maybe a splash of pineapple if you need some sweetness, soda etc. 3. Exercise: I feel like people discredit the importance of movement every day. Yes you can do a challenging workout a few times a week but the off days do at least 20 min of something (anything!) I’m moving my body at least 4-5 times per week and most of the time it’s more so for my mental health than anything else. Don’t we all remember Elle Woods: “Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t!” 4. Live a life filled with acceptance. Sometimes things don’t go the way you want. The best advice my father ever gave me when having a bad day that still resonates is “sometimes a day isn’t great. That’s ok. Accept that you’re having a bad day. You can’t have every day be the best day ever without bad days because it’s not balanced and you don’t appreciate the good without the bad. Accept it and know tomorrow will be better”. Happy Friday!
