At the beginning of this year, I stood down from my role as editor after seven years at @wavelengthsurfmag. It was a wonderful job, but I wanted to make more time for freelance projects and photography. I was stoked to pass the torch to the capable hands of @laymike, who's just released his first issue. He very kindly asked me to submit my portfolio to be featured in it, (not a stipulation of said torch-passing, I promise), and then even more kindly went and put one of my shots on the cover.
So thanks Mike and congrats to you @yandinexp, @henry_zyda the rest of the team on what looks like a cracking issue. Also want to say a big thanks to @pgeall, the surfer featured in the cover shot. It’s been a pleasure chasing the goose with him this winter and we’ve had a bunch of memorable sessions. Following what looks to have been an edifying few years living in WA, his comfort in heavy waves and his read on barreling lineups are really something to behold. Before this session (which didn’t look like anything special when we checked it), I half-jokingly told him his brief was to find one he could let go of the rail and stand up in. After much patient waiting, he snagged the best one to come through all day and did exactly that. Great to have you back mate!
Go grab yourself a copy of Vol 262 over on @wavelengthsurfmag.
