#Repost @hyundai.artlab ・・・ In “Gyre,” Yunchul Kim harnesses natural phenomena and feats of human engineering to create a system of interconnected installations inspired by literature, mythology, and the cosmos. “Chroma V” is a cylindrical structure which hangs from the ceiling of the Korean Pavilion in Venice. Its 382 cells resemble the scales of a fish, changing color and brightness due to processes of friction and deformation on the microscopic level. The cells periodically move, triggered by signals generated from the nearby installation “Argos - The Swollen Suns.” #BiennaleArte2022 #TheMilkofDreams [Image Description: The video begins with a slow-motion zoom-in of a hexagon-shaped vessel filled with swirling fluid. A text overlay appears which reads “La Biennale Di Venezia 59th International Art Exhibition. Korean Pavilion 2022: Yunchul Kim”. The image rapidly cuts to a surface that oscillates from inky black to shimmering hues of turquoise and gold. The word “GYRE” appears. Next, the video pans across clusters of flashing bulbs.]
