‘As I walked into the lush green forest and stopped at the first sight of charred trees, I felt a sense of belonging. There was no wind, only a deadly silence, intense heat from the scorching sun and an eerie stillness. The forest floor was a patchwork of charcoal sticks pinned onto a mat of powder-fine ash. Flames had etched wave lines into the ash, like watermarks on a sandy beach. It was as if nature had painted the floor.’ ‘Towering blaze’ charred wood and ash on Fabriano paper.
