Baby girl - The toughest part about being your father is trying to balance preparing you for the World while not dimming the love and wonder in your eyes. It’s an uneasy feeling as a parent knowing the World is helping us raise you. No matter how well me and mom pave the road, the World will always be loose gravel waiting, blending in until it decides to pop up in the form of questions, gestures, and experiences. What did you say?! Where did you learn this? How did you know that? Tell me more — You force me to examine myself as a father with every question, comment, emotion, or impromptu dance because YOU ARE A LEADER. You don’t let the World rush you because the World is on your time. And although it’s infuriating getting you to understand when we need to make moves, I know God put that in you for reasons I’m able to learn from.
