We worked with our friend Lauren Yates (@ponytailjournal) founder of Bangkok-based label @wmenswear to create the Floodplains Collection — a series of shibori-dyed garments that take our classic Quaker Marine designs and dive a little deeper. Each piece is made with authentic shibori cloth, hand-dyed by sisters Kookik and Gai using traditional techniques in their hometown of Moo Baan Sawang in Northeastern Thailand. To put the garments to the test, we took to the rivers of Thailand in kayaks designed and built by Lauren’s friend and collaborator Wit Pimkanchanapong — a prominent Thai artist who draws much of his inspiration from the water, using the rivers as a source of new perspective.
