Expecting someone to constantly be accessible can be seriously, mentally exhausting to them. - I’ve gained a lot of new followers recently (hi nice to meet you) so if you choose to follow me, work with me, or be in my life in any capacity (I have this problem with friends & family too) here are some of my boundaries towards connectivity. - 1. Do not pitch me shoots, ideas, questions about work in my DMs, like ever. I lose them, it’s unprofessional, I can’t re-locate conversations — email me at [email protected] - 2. Do not send me news articles and ask me for my opinion of them (especially if it’s about creatives who are friends of mine, I won’t be pitted against members of my own community). - 3. No I don’t want unsolicited messages about previous toxic people I’ve worked hard to leave behind and heal from. - 4. Respect my working hours. I’ve worked so hard to get myself into a healthy work/life balance. Don’t Dm me about work in the evenings, weekends, bank holidays etc because it’s a disrespect to not consider my time. - 5. This app is 3% of my life, I have IRL problems, stresses and a personal life you never see — so don’t send me question marks or chases if I don’t reply. Its harassing. Again if it’s important — email me. - 6. Please don’t ask me to give you work, tbh it’s always cis men that ask me this (I’m a part-time cleaner, so I don’t have the work to give you) - 7. You don’t need to message me on Instagram or text me to tell me you’ve emailed me. - 8. Memes, check-ins, praise and things you think will bring me joy is welcome 🥰 - 9. To anyone else struggling with this, it’s not rude to leave people on seen. What’s rude is expecting your time and energy by someone asking for unsolicited favours or conversation. - I’m only saying this because I have a lot on my plate atm, on average, between texts, emails, social media, calls... on average about 50-70 people a day ask something of me and it’s starting to exhaust me. That’s almost 500 people a week to respond to, my sole purpose on earth isn’t to be consumed.
