In 2016, a video shot way too beautifully for Kickstarter caught my eye on a friend’s FB. I’d been daydreaming about costuming on a film for a couple years and somehow I’d come across a gritty, female-led, immigrant story set in Chinatown. I convinced myself that no one could be more equipped to dress that cast than me. Maybe a week later (thanks Jordan!), I somehow convinced @arowanafilms the same thing. Synchronized chaos ensued. I ransacked my family’s wardrobe as well as my own. Pulled double shifts during fashion week, sneaking out to fittings from set and sewing between takes until my body gave out and fought off the flu in the rub n tug we were shooting in that night. @michaelbaquerizo @rollisays @paulvstheworld all took turns subbing in for me when I couldn’t manage. I’m so grateful to Evan for trusting me with his vision and @shuya_chang @jadelafive @sungkangsta @therealrichieng for being the most laidback goons to dress.
