Mentally and spiritually I’m here. Chichén Itzá. I started feeling an ancestral calling 3 years ago. I felt anger learning the history of colonization specifically in what is known now as Latin America. I didn’t really learn my history because my parents tried to assimilate and with that, encouraged us to also assimilate to a country they thought wasn’t theirs. Today, I am reclaiming my indigeneity. I am indigenous to this land. There is not a day I don’t feel the ancestral calling to decolonize. A little bit of Chichén Itzá: 🧿Chichén Itzá is classified as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World 🧿Chichén Itzá means ‘the mouth at the well of Itza’. Itza means ‘the witches of the water’, deriving from the Maya Itz for ‘magic’ and á for ‘water’. 🧿Design and layout of Chichén Itzá was constructed with perfect dimensions and angles which demonstrated their mastering of mathematics and engineering. 🧿Chichén Itzá was used as a calendar 4stairways, each with 91 steps and a platform at the top, making a total of 365, exactly equivalent to the number of days in a Haab calendar year. Only the Haab calendar has a direct relationship to the length of the year. It was the civil calendar of the Mayas.
