World Water Day, 2022. ​ ​We are grateful that on this day the world aims its attention to the global water crisis. And since we have your attention, here’s a couple sobering statistics to chew on: 1 in 10 people around the world don’t have access to clean water. Women and girls around the world spend an estimated 2 million hours hauling water every day. ​ ​But even these astounding statistics are overshadowed by what is currently happening on the ground in Ukraine. Within its borders, there are approximately 2 million displaced persons who have been forced from their homes. Now with a gamut of challenges ahead of them and local infrastructure severely compromised, basic needs such as clean water become a primary focus–leaving many folks to collect water from unsafe surface sources: streams, puddles, ponds, etc. ​ ​It is within this need that we announce the launch of an emergency clean water initiative for Ukraine. Led by our Veteran team, @cleanwatercorps, we will be on the ground as early as next week. A special thanks to our partner on this, @numiorganictea, for stepping up to make this initiative possible.
