Inside San Diego’s First Cajun Seafood Boil 🦀 🦐 🦞
📍 @crabhut Convoy, Mira Mesa
In 1994, the Phan family moved from Vietnam to Houston where they were introduced to the bold southern style seafood boils that Houston is known for. Soon after moving to San Diego and opening up opens a small Chinese/ Vietnamese restaurant in El Cajon, they opened up the first Crab Hut location off Convoy St. From there It was near instant success as their commitment to quality and bold flavors transformed the seafood scene in San Diego. ✨
Now nearly 20 years since they started, there are no shortage of seafood boils in town, but still Crab Hut continues to be the local favorite. Reasonably priced, ultra fresh seafood, creative cocktails, and a killer happy hour keeps people coming back, and once you try it you will too! 😋
We stopped to get an inside peek at why it’s the best in town and were blown away with the quality. From live Dungeness crab, live Maine lobster, live crawfish (when in season) and a plethora of high quality shrimp, mussels, clams, and oysters they keep it FRESH. Thats the key to the Phan’s family success, high quality seafood cooked to order and BOLD flavors that keep you asking for more. 🦞
Along with a well stocked bar, a cozy family friendly (dog friendly at Mira Mesa) atmosphere, this is the spot where you bring a group, roll up the sleeves and get ready to go to town. Want to know what we get? ⬇
Go To Town - Lobster - (King crab leg, snow crab cluster, head-on shrimp, crawfish, mussels, clams, corn on the cob, potatoes and sausages mixed with a sauce of your choice) plus a lobster! We recommend the Full House sauce! 🔥
Spicy Jambalaya - Creole style Jambalaya with andouille sausages, chicken, crawfish, clams, and shrimp 🦐
Green Lip Mussels - Extra large, fresh seasonal mussels from New Zealand that are worth a trip to get when there! 💚
Don’t skip on the cocktails that feature a blend of southern staples like the Hurricane and Sazerac to local San Diego brews that pair perfectly with a spicy seafood boil! 🍻
Want to visit @crabhut? Head to their Convoy St or Mira Mesa location! 🥘
