I got to swim in the ocean last week, watch the waves roll in and feel the tides of time wash by. It seemed to suggest to me not only the enormity of this life, but also the smallness, especially when subsumed by the expanse of the ocean and sky. Some sensations too vast to fully quantify or articulate, but sometimes, once in awhile, I try to. . At times, I’ve been able to view loss as a way to touch upon deeper meaning within everyday life. I’ve understood grief as a site of discovery and negotiation, constantly in formation and witnessed with empathy, respect, and love. . Shaun was an immense and magnetic spirit. I miss him more than I ever imagined possible. From grief to gratitude, his love changed my life. .
