Is this the best Chinese spot in all of San Diego County?
📍 @chinsszechwan | Carlsbad Village
It’s a name that comes up constantly in our DMs, so we went back to Chin’s Szechwan to remind ourselves why everyone keeps calling it the GOAT. 🥢🔥
With 6 locations across the county and a legacy dating back to 1976, Chin’s Szechwan is one of those nostalgic, old-school Chinese-American restaurants generations of San Diegans grew up on. Delectable flavor, ritzy decor, and all the classics done the way you remember them.
Here’s what we tried this time (and what we’d order again) ⬇️

🍲 Hot & Sour Soup — warm, tangy, peppery comfort
🥟 Crispy Dumplings, potstickers & cream cheese + crab wontons
🍊 Tangerine Chicken — crispy, sticky, sweet, an essential
🥦 Broccoli & Beef — tender, savory, perfectly nostalgic
🍤 Honey Walnut Shrimp — creamy, crunchy, always a fan-favorite
🍜 Extra-Saucy Noodles — glossy, rich, and super shareable
🍆 Tender Eggplant — soft, flavorful, and underrated
🔥 Garlic Salt & Pepper Wings — easily the standout bite for me
Additional recs from their menu ⬇️

• Black Pepper Beef — bold, saucy, peppery steak with onions
• Cashew Shrimp — shrimp tossed with veggies & cashews in a sweet garlic plum sauce
• Szechwan Garlic Chicken — tender chicken, mushrooms, broccoli & peppers in mild garlic sauce
• Ma La Three Flavor — shrimp, beef & chicken wok-tossed in spicy, numbing mala
If you’re craving those classic Chinese-American comfort dishes done right, Chin’s is exactly the kind of spot that proves why it still holds a loyal following after nearly 50 years.
