Yall I wanted smothered chicken but I didn’t want no light skinned chicken 😂 so I called my mama and we came up with this on the fly. - Clean your chicken. Then, season your chicken. I used slap ya mama (for flavor) & paprika (for color) I browned my chicken in a skillet until each side had a little color. - Spray your crockpot with olive oil. Add your chicken in. Then add chopped onion, bell pepper, celery and minced garlic (I used fresh minced garlic, I find the jar to be salty). - I boiled some water, added in about 2.5 heaping tablespoons of Savoie’s jar roux. Mixed that together until it got to the color I wanted, I like a dark brown roux. Then I added in an onion soup packet. I combined all that together, then added to the crockpot. - Cook on low for 4 hours. Your layers should be: chicken, veggies, roux mixture. Enjoy!!!! I didn’t video the entire process because I didn’t know how it would turn out. But yall it’s soooooo good and I didn’t have to stand over the stove but maybe 15-20 minutes.
