Weather & Services Advisory #05 – TD03F⁠ Sunday 9th January 2022 at 3 pm⁠ ⁠ The South Sea Cruises Group which operates South Sea Cruises, South Sea Island, & South Sea Sailing⁠ continue to track all relevant weather forecasts in relation to the current Tropical Depression - TD03F.⁠ Due to the latest update from Fiji Met and in the interest of safety, all South Sea Cruises Day Cruise and⁠ Resort Connection services are now cancelled for tomorrow, Monday 10th of January 2022.⁠ This advisory is not only that of the South Sea Cruises Group decision as its not currently safe to operate,⁠ but also that of the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) who have currently suspended all maritime services Fiji wide.⁠ ⁠ Fiji Met states as follows.⁠ “Tropical depression TD03F was located about 250 kilometres west-southwest of Viwa and 280 kilometres⁠ west-southwest of Nadi at 9 am today”.⁠ TD03F is moving east towards Fiji at about 18 kilometres per hour.⁠ The depression is expected to move towards east-southeast at about 10 kilometres per hour and the centre⁠ should pass about 180 kilometres southwest of Nadi at 9 pm today and about 200km southwest of Nadi at⁠ 9 am tomorrow. Based on the intensity forecast, the system is expected to be elevated to category 1 today⁠ during its passage. Damaging winds and cyclone impacts could begin several hours prior to the cyclone⁠ centre passing over or nearby.⁠ ⁠ Our next advisory regarding Day Cruises and Resort Connection services will be issued at around 4 pm on⁠ Monday 10th of January 2022. ⁠ ⁠ It should however be noted that weather conditions at this current time are forecasted to be similar over the coming few days and further disruptions and/or cancellations are likely.⁠ Resorts are advised there is a possibility based on the current forecast that these disruptions and/or⁠ suspensions may impact the safe operation of Resort Connection services and private speed boat⁠ transfers over the next several days and both resorts and customers are therefore being advised in advance.⁠ ⁠ Vinaka,⁠ South Sea Cruises Group⁠ PH: +679 9995512 / Email: [email protected]⁠ ⁠
