As we near the ending of the 2022 edition of the @jcctunisieofficial I'm sharing this trailer with the words from the Opening Remarks of sister @myriamtaylorofficial at the @websummit as they echo the intentions behind @alisbonaffairshort my directorial debut short film. "Our collective imagination is shaped by what we experience, by what we consume, what we watch, read, or we listen to and who we spend our time with. It is highly important to intentionally foster diverse, equitable & inclusive teams when creating content, since it has a direct impact on the perception of the collective imagination! As a young Portuguese black child I have always felt sad, with the narratives which were being disseminated, about our black community! I believe that that has been an intentional strategy, to keep our intersectional black community as the cheap labour globally! Racism is systemic and intentional! And we have historically been trapped in it! On one hand the system is kept and fed through content creation, which reinforces and legitimises it. On the other hand that same content repeats over and over again that we can only occupy certain spaces, shutting the door to possibilities and narrowing the dreams from the Black community globally! Many of the narratives seem so real, working almost as a mantra, that many of us end up believing it! And this was why at a very young age I have decided to study theatre, due to the urgency I had and still have, to create new and alternative narratives which are a real representation of the voices of the underserved and underrepresented communities. That is why I became a Dream enabler! In a time of transition into the Web3 era, is highly crucial to anticipate and to prepare so that we attract diverse talent and create spaces at all those tables which are being built as we speak, so that we don’t reproduce the same mistakes, as in the physical World, or the blind spots and biases of Web2, many times diminishing, undermining, patronising or invisibilizing the plurality of voices, which compose our global social fabric."
