Wow, what an amazing time visiting Kansas City as a stop on my Big Brothers Big Sisters of America CEO Tour! It’s fitting that I attended Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City Empower Breakfast as from the little brother Shane who emceed the event to the inspiring testimonials given through our this fundraising event to make more Big and Little matches was absolutely empowering! And even more I was in awe of the innovation Micheal Lawrence, CEO of BBBS of Kansas City and his incredible team are leveraging to impact more young people and bring people of all backgrounds together to elevate youth and families in their communities. They are establishing a neighborhood of opportunity by being right in the center and serving the community that needs them most. And just as impressive is the experience they are creating for youth is the experience they are building for the volunteers who raise their hand to feel empowered, valued and supported. We talk a lot about reciprocal mentoring in our mission meaning that the mentor and mentee both create impact in each other’s lives. I’m proud to visit places like Kansas City that’s an prime example of this approach coming to life.
