What we typically call hormonal acne is more appropriately called adult female cyclic acne, where acne is worse around menstruation. For almost all acne, hormones (androgens) play a role. This is why we see acne commonly starting around puberty. While women can use oral medications to help block the effects of these androgens, men cannot use these systemic androgen blockers. For the first time, we have an FDA approved cream that gets to the hormonal root. It’s a prescription so please talk to your dermatologist about side effects, interactions, and if it’s a good option for you. I’m just letting you know it exists!
It’s not sponsored so chill. Also, despite the song, DO NOT pop your pimples 🤪
