i adore my afro now. It makes me feel absolutely fucking FABULOUS. Racism made me think that my hair as it literally just grew out of my head didn’t suit me or was too unruly. In reality Afro hair is so gentle that it must be wrapped with silks to sleep in and nourished with oils. My hair care routine is now an expression of love to myself. It grounds me. I’m grateful for that time ❤️ In the midst of a lot of pain and grief I am reminding myself that I fucking love my blackness and I won’t let this oppressive system take that love or joy away from me.
