I am incredibly proud and delighted for this image to be included in this year's Female in Focus selection as a single image winner, a competition organized by @bjp1854. The theme was 'Home.' I marked my calendar back in January and waited until the last minute to submit.⁠ ⁠ Dad in the backyard, roughly two weeks before my parents moved into a continuing care community and we sold the house. ⁠ Swipe left to see the home when my folks bought it in 1962, and then again to see it in 2018, the year we sold it. The yard, the house, it all literally became too big for them to handle. I'm so grateful I had a secure spot to grow up in, and thankful to my parents for providing it. Daily I become more aware of how lucky I was— This image of dad breaks my heart and also makes me chuckle.
