On September 18, Hurricane Fiona made landfall in southwestern Puerto Rico and brought heavy rainfall that triggered flooding, landslides, and mudslides. Fiona has arrived almost exactly 5 years after Hurricane Maria that took thousands of lives and triggered a blackout that lasted months. The island's power grid has remained unreliable since then and has significantly affected water services. As many of you know we responded to Hurricane Maria in full force, implementing over 7500 water filtration systems, 26 rain-catchments systems, and 137 community water depots - impacting approximately 200,000 people. As a result, we have an established permanent local team on the ground, that has already taken action in response to Fiona. With water infrastructure damaged, and sources contaminated by severe flooding, our first goal is to address the immediate need for clean water access by deploying filtration systems with our local team on the ground. Please see the link in our bio to support our efforts and learn more. Thank you! 🙏🏻 #wavesforwater #hurricanefiona #w4wpuertorico
