My experience. I visited this building about 3 years ago during a weekend trip to Mexico City. The first thing that stood out to me upon entering the courtyard was the massive umbrella that seemed to defy gravity, the more I looked at it the more impossible it seemed that the single column could hold up that giant structure. The other thing I noticed about the interior was the way that it was able to serve the pieces it held giving the whole museum a sense of unity. It wasn’t simply a building that held a collection of individual pieces, the structure and the contents truly synthesized into one full experience. Also, the choice to arrange the exhibits in chronological order gave me the feeling that I was traveling back in time to witness the rise and fall of these cultures myself.
