This year I was invited to be a part of the 3rd-annual Music, Mental Health & Pride Summit curated by @whenthemusicstops It was such a great experience sharing the Pride Panel with two other profound women @iamkittens and @djangievee and having conversations about our experiences and struggles in the industry we work in, learning about ourselves in the process and what gives us the strength to get through these obstacles. Not many paid attention to mental health until our world shut down and things were taken away from us, from our freedom, our jobs, being able to see loved ones in other countries and to even physically getting a hug that we desperately needed. Many of us found ourselves going into the darkness because we felt helpless. Personally, I was one of those people who found myself deep in that space. So being able to be part of this summit was special. Thank you @joshdvegas 🙏🏼 Behind every smile/laugh, there’s a deeper, complex story. And behind every smile/laugh, every high and low emotion is still being felt. And it’s okay if we process emotions differently. It’s mainly a product of how we received and didn’t receive love as a child. But, no one is better or worse than the other. You are no better than the person holding the “Hungry, please help” sign on the corner or any less than the person who has a million more followers than you. And in this social media age, what you see is only what the person wants you to see. It’s okay to be private and it’s okay if you want to expose your life. But keep in mind, the world is not entitled to your life or should dictate what you should/should not post. I’m a private person. More private than my peers. I struggle at times thinking I should post more, but my mental health means more to me than getting exposure. And it’s okay to protect your mental, than give the world power over it. So, for those on the same wavelength as I am, you’re not alone and I’m right there navigating through this Life with you. But know YOU MATTER and we all are just doing our best 🌈♥️✨
