All artists should understand pro audio in order to really get your creative points across. You should record as if your sound is more important than your composition (not saying this is true but it’s the perspective you should maintain in the studio). I use no plugins...you can hear the difference. Nevertheless, use what works for you. What is better for me may not be the same for you.
