Do you know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer? Here are some ways you can be supportive: ✅ Take the time to check in with them and ask how they are ✅ Be available to listen. Cry, laugh, and listen to them ✅ Let them know you are available to listen ✅ Just be yourself ✅ Let them know you care ✅ Cook a homemade meal or offer to do the grocery shopping ✅ Visit, but phone first to check if it’s okay. Things that won’t help: ❌ Avoiding them ❌ Making assumptions about what they can and can’t do ❌ Asking inappropriate questions like: ‘Were you a smoker?’ or, ‘Is it in your family?’ Wherever possible, try to take your lead from your friend. Listen for cues, and don’t be afraid to ask what they need or to make a suggestion.
