The City of Edmonton is making a Proclamation that October 22nd, 2022 "Walk a Mile in a Ribbon Skirt Day". 🪶❤️ DETAILS: Location: West Edmonton Mall - Stage 4 Time: 1:00pm to 5:00pm Speakers, Fashion Show, Round dance, and finishing off with the Walk. Date: October 22, 2022 Learn about the rich history behind the Ribbon Skirts as a symbol of strength, feminism, and survival. Learn, understand, and help stop the prejudices indigenous women face when they wear them in urban places. All Edmontonians are invited to come out and learn about ribbon skirts and how we can all grow as a community. And if you are an Edmontonian and have a ribbon skirt, please come out and wear your ribbon skirt. Samson gallery will have Ribbon Skirts on site to purchase. We have several speakers coming to come out and share their stories, and whatever current means to them. And we also have the origin story being shared at the event, and proper protocol was shared and given. (A safe space for Women and LGBTQ- Trans women and their families)
