Burg Eltz has variously been described as Europe’s most beautiful castle, a fairytale in stone and the archetype of a medieval fortress. And it certainly lives up to these descriptions. With eight residential towers, up to 35 metres in height, as well as an abundance of oriels, half-timbering and pointed gables, it looks like it has come straight from the pages of a storybook.
