After 6 years of fighting for my rights at the UN for a rape survivor resolution, today the resolution was filed (Resolution number A/76/L.80). If passed, it’ll be the first time in world history that the UNGA acknowledges rape in peacetime in its own resolution. It is up for a vote September 2 in the UNGA plenary and is highly likely to pass by consensus/ unanimously. That’s 193 countries voting on it. It will impact 1.3 billion survivors around the world. Thank you everyone for your support over these 6 years. Thank you to the @risenow.us team who show up everyday to organize. Thank you to UN diplomats who have tirelessly worked on the resolution effort. Thank you to all the mentors along the way. This campaign has been the most heart wrenching, blood curling campaign I have ever worked on in my entire life. The set backs, the bullying, the threats, the trolling - and through it all we are still here. 6 years of getting knocked down and getting up again. There is always hope. Thank you everyone for helping me pen my own rights into existence. Thank you for helping us change the world.
