Every year, Littlehands and I make a gingerbread house together. It’s festive, there’s Christmas music on, but only festive to a point– because for the most part we’re both too deep in concentration to chit chat. Chit chatting is for after school or waiting for the train. But gingerbread decorating is for extreme perfectionist focus. Every once in a while one of us will break the spell, bursting out into song or tearing into a bag of snacking gumdrops (as opposed to construction gumdrops), but it never lasts long. We’ve got a job to do. This season Littlehands wanted to go fo a “chromatic pearl” look which in my day we just called “iridescent”, but I saw some pretty blue jellybeans and couldn’t help myself from imposing some color. Here are some of my favorites throughout the years– the apple tree is hard to beat, but we’ll keep trying. Also look how tiny she is in that second one!! Merry Christmas everyone! ✨🎄
