A safe and legal abortion saved my life when I was 24. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy - I didn’t know I was 8 weeks pregnant as I cycled the pill due to endometriosis. Without the emergency life saving operation to remove the clump of cells that had ruptured my fallopian tube I would not be here today. If the doctors had hesitated or been forced to place the viability of said clump of cells above my health, I would not be here today. I would not have had the remarkable last 20 years where hopefully I have contributed something to the world around me. Fuck this crazy evangelical far right Supreme Court that voted against the majority of the people in the US. That has voted women are second class citizens with less rights than a corpse or a gun. Organs can not be harvested from a corpse with out permission but a woman or a child can be forced to incubate an unwanted embryo to term - and then forced into parenthood for life - even in the case of rape or incest. This has nothing to do with protecting life - is about retaining control for the far right patriarchy. Fuck this dark day, rise up and support planned parenthood and fight for western liberal democracy.
