Each year on your Birthday, as I think about your impact on my life and others, I find more things to be grateful for- your guidance is still felt from the spirit world. You welcomed in the broken and healthy animals I brought home and supported my young heart’s need to nurture. You did the same with all of my friends, the familiar and the stray and helped me see the beauty and cautions of both. You supported my athletic, creative and entrepreneurial endeavors without judgement, but with care and humor, especially with the failed attempts. You endured my partying years and stayed up late with worry and always were up with a plate of breakfast and an ear for a good night out’s tale. You were my foundation as I was looking skyward and traveling afar, with a Mother’s worry and support, you were an ally on my insane and unfocused adventures and were always there to check in with. You bought cookbooks when I became vegetarian and pulled out the world map to find the consulates when I was off on another journey. Your way of welcoming in others with a big smile and open heart turned our home into a place of refuge and feeling of family to so many others, I was so fortunate to be born into this life with parents like you. You showed by example and helped me shape a sense of ‘open-minded morality’ with the capacity to love so many not from the same walk of life. Your life is still inspiring me and I celebrate your life that was ‘sooooo’ well lived today on your Birthday and as I meditate today this all flows through me and I know you are here smiling!
