I’ve tried to be as diplomatic and respectful as possible BUT: when parliament is taking more time off to mourn in the middle of a political mess where vulnerable lives are on the line, events are cancelled at short notice with vendors unable to recoup costs, an already crumbling health care system is put on hold creating backlogs of sick people needing help and individuals are arrested for daring to question why we are so blindly supportive of the empire we HAVE to start asking questions. I implore you - even if you stan the monarchy - to use this moment in history as an opportunity to reflect not only on the lives lost and havoc wreaked by imperialism and colonialism but the calamity we’re living in right now. Look at how inconsequential our lives become when put next to the rich and royal. All of the important political discussions that affect us deeply being put on hold to mourn when our lives are at risk???
