Otherlands: A World in the Making by Dr Thomas Halliday is shortlisted for the #BAMBReadersAwards Non-Fiction Award.
We're thrilled to share an exclusive Q&A with Thomas.
• What book is currently in your bag?
I'm currently reading Storyland, a collection of retold folk tales from around Britain and Ireland.
• Do you have a favourite bookshop?
I have a soft spot for my childhood local, the @theedinburghbookshop and enjoyed every moment spent in @toppingsbath.
• What’s been your favourite book recommended by a bookseller?
For Two Thousand Years, by Mihail Sebastian, translated by Philip Ó Ceallaigh. It's a story of a young Jewish man caught in the rising antisemitism of Romania.
• Who would you love to give a National Book Token to and why?
There's no specific person I would give a token to - everybody should read, so the best person to receive one is anybody who can't otherwise afford to buy a book and who lives in a place where library services have been gutted over the last ten years.
• What book will you be nominating for the Books Are My Bag Readers’ Choice Award?
I will be nominating Here Again Now, a novel by @nzeluwrites, about an up and coming actor, his not-quite-official partner, his father, and the relationships between them.
