“I joined the program for the free food” Daniela remembered her reasons for joining the mentoring program. The truth is, that she may have joined for the food, but she stayed because she found her community, and above all her connection with her mentor. To our great joy, Daniela joined YMC not as a mentee, but as staff, and we had the great pleasure of witnessing her develop into an exemplary employee, trusted mentor, and a woman standing strong and powerful in her life. Last week we celebrated this phenomenal young woman moving on in her journey and fully living into her vision for herself and her family. Pride and sadness can live in the same space, so with some reluctance, staff, friends and family came together for a scrumptious dinner at #CasablancaMoroccanKitchens reminiscing, laughing and with knots in our throats said our final “See you later”.
