10 years to the day since I shared my first beauty related post on this platform. ✨Here’s 10 things I learned about social over the last decade. 1. It’s easy to put off the project that no one is expecting. Prioritize the things that are important to you and moving the needle forward in your life, the same way you prioritize everyone else. 2. The thoughts you have, the habits you implement and the discipline you create will be the biggest dictator of what your future will look like. 3. Be aware of the trends, create to the ones that align with you & let the rest go. Truly creating because you are passionate about it allows you to build a community that truly sees you and doesn’t dismiss your humanness simply chasing the next viral moment. 4. You cannot bully yourself into a version that you love. Give yourself grace when it takes a little longer, compassion when you get it wrong, rest when it's needed & celebrate even the smallest accomplishments. You deserve it. 5. No one’s life is as aesthetically pleasing as it seems. Trust. The amount of time, energy, editing and emotional breakdowns that go into capturing the “perfect” image is exhausting. Appreciate it for what it is, a cool pic/video and get back to loving your real life. 6. Speaking of perfection, it doesn’t exist. We are all flawed. If you follow people you deem as “perfect” and it subconsciously creates a mental environment of comparison and feeling like crap...unfollow them. Either be inspired by them and use it as motivation to create something similar in your life or follow more people that are good for your mental health. 7. Putting yourself out there is hard. Social can be a tough critic. Whether its your face, body, your talents, a new business venture or your thoughts. However, when you get to the end of your life, you won’t remember the naysayers or critic committee. You’ll remember all the times you bet on yourself & regretting when you didn’t. Try to keep the regrets list short. ...continued in comments & slide ✨
