From dance to design ~ In the early design process of the 'Meta Morphism’ collection, Iris van Herpen collaborated with Michael Langan who captured the dancer Yuanyuan Zhang transforming through chrono-photography. The transforming textures, made by the atelier, that sculpturally echo around Zhang were then taken as inspiration to design the silhouettes and movements within the collection. The dancer's metamorphoses through chrono-photography reflect the seed inspiration of the collection; Ovid’s epic poem ‘Metamorphoses’ explores the elusiveness and vulnerability of the human body.
