《Moon Jars: Park Young-sook》 September 2 – November 20, 2022 M2 2F Leeum Museum of Art is proud to present a special exhibition of Park Young-sook, one of Korea’s leading contemporary ceramicists. For the past forty years, Park Young-sook has been exploring and expanding the possibilities of ceramics and white porcelain. While Park draws upon the long legacy of Korean ceramics, she is very much an artist of the present who creates white porcelain for the contemporary era. Thanks to advancements in technology, her moon jars are larger than any produced in the Joseon period, and also have a more pristine white color. But even with modern technology, she must still endure numerous failures in order to create moon jars with such an enormous size and flawless white color. Park is also well known for her collaborations with contemporary artist Lee Ufan, with whom she has helped to usher white porcelain into the realm of contemporary art. We invite you to retrace Park Young-sook’s journey through white porcelain, appreciating the long hours she has spent forming clay, spinning the wheel, and battling fires through the beautiful moon jars that all of her time and effort ultimately produced. ⠀ #여월지항박영숙백자 #MoonJars_ParkYoungsook
