“Distant Society” for @pap_magazine @pap_korea (2/3) Seoul have always been a special place in my heart. I used to comb through the streets during the fashion week seasons and shot street styles to widen my perspective and hone my skills as a photographer (if you are still here, thank you for staying). Honestly, there are too many humbling experiences and takeaways from the yesteryears that I could share but I’ll keep it for next time. Then the pandemic hit, I grew up and chose to take on the life that was planned for me - the business. I haven’t been dabbing my fingers into fashion photography in a while now, more so in a foreign land. 3 years later in Seoul. The sense of familiarity greeted me, introduced with the fear of “Can I still do it?”. This project was so necessary to ignite a spark again and reconnect with my eye, my identity and my creativity, that I felt distant to slowly over the years. The journey on this shoot wasn’t the easiest. Communication barrier, logistics limitations, the dreaded virus that got to one of us, a time crunch.... The list goes on ... But, I only have gratitude and appreciation to the team that made this happen amidst what we intended for - A break. And most importantly, the creative support in Seoul we received from the brands and models to make this little dream possible.
