‘Jökull’ Believe it or not, this ice cave is not on the glacier. This is actually a tunnel into a gigantic iceberg that was frozen in place on a glacier lake from a couple of years ago. The Icelandic winters become so cold that the lake freezes it’s top layer and allowed for passage over the water and into the icebergs. I have to say that the feeling is pretty damn unnerving at first because every step you take, you can hear a humming underneath of the thick, yet hollow ice.
