Police and prisons do not prevent violence. Healthy communities are the solution. Imagine a world where the majority of a town or city's budget was spent on health care, housing, schools, universal income, transportation, food and water security, environment, COVID-19 relief.... We need a massive defunding, demilitarization and dismantling of police departments that are beyond reform. It's not possible to restructure departments that have been functioning as the right hand of white supremacy for centuries.
