New York based contemporary artist Leonardo Drew transforms found and raw materials into carefully constructed abstract arrangements. 🖤 His works explore cycles of decay and regeneration, tensions between order and chaos and make reference to African American history. In this work, 'Number 185', long slats and logs protrude from a central grid, suggesting the force of nature disrupting the constructed world. Drew weathered and painted the wood used in this work to make them appear salvaged and charred. He describes ‘becoming the weather’ in his process of transforming the material. Leonardo Drew's 'Number 185' 2016 is on free display at Tate Modern in Materials and Objects. @leonardodrewstudio
