Please join us in wishing the Cape May Lighthouse a very happy 163rd birthday. Constructed in 1859, the current lighthouse is actually the third fully documented lighthouse to be built at Cape May Point. Standing at 157 feet 6 inches tall from the ground to the tower’s cast iron spiral staircase, it’s walls were designed to withstand winds several times above hurricane force.
