Fight for what you believe in With @nonbinate as Vi in our epic shoot at Sloss Furnaces! Let’s talk about mindfulness. One thing I am working really hard at is the idea of mindful consumption and mindful creativity in art. The idea that, instead of endlessly scrolling my feed, I actively look through the accounts and art that inspire me. You know, the type of art that stops me in my tracks, drops my jaw and makes me say “wow.” The type of art, whether it be photography, cosplay, or cinematography, that makes me want to do better as opposed to feel worse. And when I see that art, it is critical to take a moment to tell the artist “hey, you did awesome.” Because we all need that feedback so we don’t feel like we aren’t pouring are heart and soul into our craft, only to not be seen nor heard. Because being seen and heard is so important for us as human beings. And as far as mindful creativity, it has been a process of being very deliberate in creating the type of work that gives my heart joy and makes me proud. Of being so involved in loving the process that the accolades (or lack there of) are less important to my own development. Because I find that when I can go on that perfect shoot, take that perfect photo and present the results in a way that inspires myself and others, my fire burns infinitely brighter then any number of likes and follows. And that’s because the likes and follows are fickle. We can post banger work that pops off and that feels good, at least until you post banger work that flops. And then you post a bathroom selfie which goes harder then anything you have ever created and all you can say is “uhhh sure I guess?” All that to say is, take a little time to be mindful in your art.
