This plant-based restaurant in Brooklyn is a gem. New York City’s Public Records is three different things -- an all-day vegan cafe and hip magazine shop, a restaurant featuring housemade, plant-forward dishes, and an intimate venue with live music and DJs spinning vinyl. With a gorgeous cocktail list and a more gorgeous food menu, I love this spot. Featured in this reel are: Romaine and Red Endives Salad: It comes with delectable seared peaches, pickled onions, watermelon radishes and epazote dressing topped with chipotle pepitas for a little heat. It's one of the best salads I've ever had. Pear and Ricotta Toast: The housemade seeded bread is topped with almond ricotta, poached pears and herb and thyme-infused agave. Kimchi Fried Rice: with maitake mushrooms, marinated cucumber, coconut and scallions with ciantro crema. Another favorite. Oyster Mushroom Enchilada Tacos: juicy mushrooms with almond cotija, red onion, and cilantro cream wrapped in heirloom corn tortillas with a charred lime. If you're going to get one dish, this one is it. Perfection. Housemade Pappardelle: it's got roasted butternut squash with smoked almond ricotta, caramelized pecans and orange zest. The flavor combo wasn't for me as some bites were very orange-y. Batata Frita: sweet potatoes with poblano crema and walnut gremolata. Tahini and Hibiscus Brownie: graham cracker cardamom crust and burnt meringue. LOVED. LOVED. Mole Brownie: horchata ice cream with berry compote, pink peppercorn and candied lime. This wasn't for me, the ice cream wasn't actually cold and it had a bit too much peppercorn. Would I come back here? ABSOLUTELY. Would you check them out?
