i spent some of the most peaceful and odd years of my life writing with charlie and making songs. we were trying to do something that’s really difficult i think. trying to listen back to them and know in absolute terms that we wrote the best possible song that we could. that there was nothing left in either of us, given more effort or time, that could be extracted. this is a record of that period of time and i’m so happy that it’s out. please go listen to it. the songs you have not heard on the album are the ones i want people to hear the most. my favorites. thanks to everyone who worked on this with us and thanks to charlie for letting me be extreme in many ways during the past few years.
