It all started back in 2004 with Amazonian rubber and organic cotton from the Northeast of Brazil. VEJA’s project was always about working on the fields, directly with local producers. 17 years and 1052 tons of organic cotton later, we wanted people from the offices to have a closer view of producers’ reality. Last July, 20 of them went to the states of Alagoas and Sergipe to meet with cooperatives and associations VEJA buys organic cotton from. Not only this cotton is organic, but also certified and agroecological, meaning it has grown among other crops, which brings different nutriments to the soil and food to the farmers. 410 tons were bought last year from 1 200 producer families. #veja
