LUCY ON THE WILD SIDE is officially out in the world! I am very grateful for the warm reception the book has received, and it is so surreal and wonderful to see something I created take on a life of its own. I wrote LUCY during what was the most complicated, stressful time of my life, and escaping into a story filled with banter and love and gorillas did my heart so much good. I hope that if you read it, it does your heart good, too. Yesterday, I took my son to the zoo to get pictures with my book, and writing that sentence fills me with joy. Many thanks to the gorillas who helped a girl out by popping into the frame; to Finn, for looking very cute in his new zoo sweatshirt; and to my mom, who spotted a group of actual, non-fictional zookeepers and proceeded to proudly tell them about my book. LUCY is a story about learning to open your heart even when it’s difficult. Especially when it’s difficult. It is also a story about love, healing, and weird but charming animal facts.
