POV: You’re a plant specimen riding a conveyor belt at the @smithsoniannmnh. In our largest digitization project, we used a conveyor belt system to digitize more than 3.8 million herbarium sheets from the museum’s collection, now available to all through #SmithsonianOpenAccess. Each specimen within the U.S. National Herbarium, digitized with our @sixdigi team, documents a species from a specific time and place. This data powers agricultural research, biodiversity studies, climate science studies, field conservation research, and more.
